Wedding Dance LessonsHere you will find all information you need about wedding dance lessons
WEDDING COMING UP REAL SOON AND YOU’VE BEEN THROWN IN THE DEEP END OF PLANNING AND PREPARATIONS?
Why you should take up wedding dance lessons:
Wedding dance lessons: Your wedding day can often become the most important and memorable day of your lives. A lot of us grow up dreaming who we’ll marry one day and how perfect everything should look. Venue, guest lists, outfits, food – there’s just so much that goes in to planning a wedding.
Even with so much going on, however, couples long to share a few special moments with their loved ones. They want to be on the dance floor and perform a wedding dance so charming, that guests couldn’t get their eyes off them. After all, who doesn’t want to feel confident on the dance floor. Also rock a bit of elegance and create beautiful memories forever.
We’ll make your first dance the most memorable one of your lives. With a bit of partner chemistry and some of our magic, you’ll be ready to be absolute stunners in front of your audience!
At our studio, the choices and needs of our members are never compromised upon
“I am shy, conscious and a tiny bit under-confident”.
You can opt to be trained entirely through private wedding dance lessons without no one around but your instructor. This may incur an extra cost of course, as we will have to put other group classes and training sessions on hold, but it isn’t impossible
OK, you are one of those extreme introverts who get nervous even by the thought of a big crowd. You should give plenty of time to get out of your comfort zone and pick up dancing. Schedule your lessons way in advance of the wedding day!
“I am a complete beginner and have had zero dancing experience before”.
We tailor our wedding dance lessons according to the level of difficulty you are comfortable with. There is no fixed routine or style that we teach every couple; it depends on your abilities.
“I only have a couple months left before our big day and work commitments don’t let us prepare”.
We are flexible with our training and can help you prepare a wedding dance routine that will fit in with your busy schedules.
“I am scared about tripping over my dress and falling face flat on the ground! I don’t want to be an embarrassment for my partner”.
Don’t you worry, we know how to make you look and feel your best. We will focus on building your confidence before anything else. It’s understandable it can be terrifying to do something new in front of so many people. We don’t want you to start your life as newly weds with a panic attack! 🙂
“I have a couple of music picks listed out and I want to pick my favourite for our wedding dance. I want to choose the style of dance that suits both of us. But I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do so.”
SSS – Sound, Style, Speed – you choose your music and the song you want to perform to. The instructor will pick your movements and steps that suit your personality, dance style and music. Lastly you can set the pace & speed of your learning by doing extra hours or coming in on multiple days a week.
If you and your partner each have clashing interests in music and can’t come to a common ground, we can accommodate both songs. Two completely contrasting songs can be edited and put together and be choreographed for two entirely different dance styles. These mashups often add a bit more fun in the choreography and you get to play around a little more. Getting the best of two worlds, pretty sweet, isn’t it? However, it does take a fair bit of time to plan mashup dance routines, so we would advise you to let us know way in advance of your wedding, preferably 8-10 weeks.
Wedding dance choreography
Wedding dance lessons at Dance Amor aren’t choreographed to impress Kings and Queens (you can of course, if you want to!). We believe in keeping it classy and elegant, but at the same time in keeping it simple. Overly complicated wedding routines can make your performance look odd and stiff, stealing away the feeling of love between two people. After all, less is more, and beauty is in simplicity!
In fact sometimes, some of our wedding couples find it a little hard to keep up with basic left right patterns, lifts, dips and turns – and we cater to that as well. We can further simplify such movements to extremely basic breakdowns that even a child will be able to follow! And you still get to look super cool 🙂
Different levels welcome
For those of you who have danced before, either casually, just for fun, or at a more professional level, and think that you are capable of a fancier wedding choreography, it shall be done for you. All those overwhelming dips, fast feet and sexy sways that you’ve been watching in romantic films and musicals can become a reality now! At the same time, we will ensure that the style of dancing we teach you matches your personality and communicates the passionate bond between you and your partner, out to the crowd.
[*However, if you are looking for a flawless, fancy, fabulous choreography, we recommend you to come in early, roughly around 12 months in advance, just so that we can structure your wedding dance lessons accordingly and give enough time for it to take shape in the desired manner 🙂]
The misconception about most bridal dances is that they have to be danced in Waltz. This is because in the olden times, most wedding dances were popular in Waltz music as it looked more royal and fancy; mainly reserved for the upper class. But nowadays, most modern music for weddings ranges from Rumba and Foxtrot for an elegant, casual look to Cha cha and Swing for a more cheerful, bubbly dance.
Wedding dance flexibility
There are a variety of dance styles that we offer for wedding choreographies – both Latin and Ballroom – and it’s up to you which one you want to go for. If you have no idea about any of them, you can either watch dance videos online and see which one fascinates you most, or tell us the mood you wish to build through your performance, and we can throw in plenty recommendations.
Most wedding couples in the new generation, that come through our doors, are throwing in an element of surprise and entertainment for their guests. They start off with a simple in-place waddle, and burst out into a spicy Salsa or sensual Bachata and people just can’t get enough of them.
If you are on a tight budget and not really sure if wedding dance lessons will be a feasible choice for you, don’t get worked up, we can help you out:
Start a lot earlier than you think is necessary
You can start learning up to 1 year in advance and spread out your classes more, instead of starting a month prior and spending too much money due to an overload of lessons. This will reduce your financial burden as it gives you more time to save up money and you also have the flexibility to pay in installments.
Take the responsibility of practicing as much as possible
It’s not only about showing up for your lessons, learning from the instructor and going back home. You need to put in time and effort between lessons to practice more at home and keep perfecting your movements. Why we highly recommend this to those on a tight budget is because this will help you finish your choreography a lot faster because of more practice, and you’ll end up taking fewer lessons.
Come to as many group classes as possible in a week
From Mon-Sat we have 2 group classes each everyday, and they’re all different dance styles. If your wedding choreography is in Waltz or Kizomba, or a bit of both, you should come in for those specific group classes during the week, to help you pick up the step patterns of the style. These can help you in your wedding choreography, as it is essentially the same patterns that we teach you. This way you can take more group classes and fewer wedding lessons and save heaps of money. It also speeds up your learning process as now your instructor only has to add the unique bits in the choreography and not waste time on teaching the basic patterns from scratch.
[*We try to finish your wedding choreography as soon as possible so that we can focus more on fine tuning and perfecting your movements to make it look as natural as possible.]

3 different options for your wedding dance lessons (frequency and duration):
These lessons last roughly for about 45 minutes per session. Can be booked in for once a week, twice a week, or perhaps once a fortnight if you feel really confident about your dance.
- Double & triple lessons
As the name suggests, these classes are each double and triple the duration of the single classes, i.e. 1 and a half hours and 2 hours 15 minutes respectively. These types of classes can be arranged for in case of those that live really far and can’t make it to the studio as often. It’s also suitable for those students that are extremely caught up with busy schedules and have less time to spare
- Mini boot camps
Each session lasts for around 4 hours or more. These are special classes that are organized in case of emergencies, really short term notice or in case of partners/couples that travel a lot. If you only have a month or 2 weeks left for your wedding, and you still really want to add in a wedding dance, please don’t hesitate to inform us. We can organize boot camps like these for you.
